Author Interview Fiasco #17

Today's awesome author is Madison Daniel!!!!

Welcome Madison!!!  Awesome to have you here!!! Inquiring minds want to know, and I'm here to ask the hard questions.... ;)

1.  As a child, who was your favorite superhero and why?

MD: Spiderman. I always felt a connection with his daily trials. I think he and his character will always appeal to people, young and old. That and he had a freakin spider on his chest! When you’re 6 or 7...that’s just bad @ss!

2.  If you were going to take over the world, how would you do it?

MD: Easy! I’d follow the exact same route as Justin Bieber! Hide your children! Let the Piper play and they shall all follow...you’ve been warned!

3.  Other than writing, what is your favorite thing to do?

MD: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again... I. JUST. WANT. TO. DANCE. (SHAMONE!)

4.  Top 5 favorite bands/songs?

MD: Impossible to answer but I’ll try...
BANDS - Beatles, Queen, Extreme, Garbage and Muse.
SONGS - “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” The Beatles (old skool), “3 Libras” A Perfect Circle (new skool), “Dirty Diana” MJ (dance skool), “Here I Go Again” Whitesnake (hair skool) and “Moonlight Sonata” Beethoven (really old skool!)

5.  Top 5 favorite TV shows?

MD: Dexter, Chuck, The Walking Dead, Alias and Transformers (80’s original!)

6.  If you could make one statement the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?

MD: “One shall stand...one shall fall.”

7.  Social issue nearest and dearest to your heart?

MD: Ignorance! All kinds...the fact that we still deal with the fear of racism, homophobia, sexism and child abuse is so useless. We live in such an amazing day and age, it is hard to understand all the hate that still occupies so many peoples hearts and minds.

8.  In your opinion, what characteristics do the best bad guys have in common?

MD: The best lines. Think about it... DIE HARD - “You asked for a Christmas miracle...I give you the FBI.” THE DARK KNIGHT - “I’m going to make this pencil disappear...” KILL BILL - “The price you pay for bringing up either my Chinese or American heritage as a negative is... I collect your fn head.”

9.  What is most likely to put you in a creative mood?

MD: Music. It creates all. It heals all. It is all. Music is life...

10.  Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your books?

MD: Only that they are written with the purpose to make the reader feel hope and all the twists that come with it. Even in the darkest corners of my books will be that thread of a brighter day, a yearning for the light to shine again. All wrapped in a musical bow! Everything I write comes with an accompanying literary soundtrack. Music and words collide! My writing will not change the world but it will offer you an escape. You can start that journey with the relaunch of my first series, Ember, on February 29th 2012 (gratuitous plug...I know...).
Thanks for the interview! I had a blast! M.D.

Author Interview Fiasco #16

Today's awesome author is Kymberlee Burks-Miller!!!!

Hey Kym!!!!  Awesome to have you here!!!  Inquiring minds want to know, so I’m here to ask the questions. LOL

1.  As a child, who was your favorite superhero and why?
Hmm...I know that this is going to sound cliche, but Wonder Woman! She was AWESOME! I loved her magic lasso.  I used to pretend that my fathers' belt was magic, and I tied my siblings up with it.

2.  If you were going to take over the world, how would you do it?
I would gather up everyone and ship them to a desserted island surrounded by great white sharks! And only allow the NON crazy people in my world!  The rest of the nuts could TRY to got off of the island, but they would get eaten by the sharks:)

3.  Other than writing, what is your favorite thing to do?
Absolutely NOTHING! I enjoy lounging in my cushy bed or the sofa works just as well! I just want the remote, and my coffee.  No worries, my hubby will turn me so that I don't end up with ulcers on my rear end.

4.  Top 5 favorite bands/songs?
The Cranberries, Muse, LMFAO, George Straight and my absolute FAVORITE song right now is Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People.
Now the funny thing about Pumped up Kicks is, I didn't know, I repeat I didn't know that this was a song deemed to be a "bully" song until AFTER I dedicated it to my sister:)

5.  Top 5 favorite TV shows?
Okay this changes with the season but right now it's Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Being Human, Criminal Minds and Leverage

6.  If you could make one statement the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?
Treat others as you would want to be treated.

7.  Social issue nearest and dearest to your heart?
That is very easy: Breast Cancer Awareness.  Most people don't know that my Mom died the day after my birthday in 2001 when she lost her fight with Breast Cancer.  So on pages you will see me write "Save the Ta-Ta's" or "Feel your Bobbies" all the time.  Also 10% of all of my proceeds from EVERY sale of my book will be going directly to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer fund.

8.  In your opinion, what characteristics do the best bad guys have in common?
Okay, well the bad guys are my favorite characters to write! In a good "Bad boy" I love to see him absolutely physically beautiful, but internally ugly.  What I mean by that is, I want to see his vindictive nature, his spitefulness, and his total lack of regard for anyone other than himself.  I love when they're taunting.  I want to see them be bad, magically delish bad!

9.  What is most likely to put you in a creative mood?
They're are several things such as a dream, a fight, a song, or even sometimes just my emotions. If I get really excited I want to write a love story. If someone pisses me off, I write a fight scene and usually kill them off in a very devious manner. A way that makes me feel better inside and allows me to remain OUT of jail.  In my upcoming series, Supernatural Society, I have used recent events to fuel the sadistic fire and after a few tortured muders, I feel like a new woman:) Lol

10.  Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your books?
I'm not a person who easily talks about themselves, so I will just say that I would be forever grateful if you give any of them a read.  And if you do, please feel free to tell what you think!

(You can find Compulsion on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and at Create Space.)

Author Interview Fiasco #15

Today's special guest is author Emily Goodwin!!!!

Welcome Emily!!!!  Awesome to have you here!!!  Inquiring minds want to know, so I’m here to ask the questions. LOL

1.  As a child, who was your favorite superhero and why?
Buffy Summers, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy is strong, physically and mentally, doesn’t take crap from anyone, stands up for what she believed and will do anything for the people she loves while at the same time is realistic and faces issues normal girls have to deal with. Plus, I love ass-kicking females who know how to handle weapons J

2.  If you were going to take over the world, how would you do it?
Minions. I’d definitely get an army of minions to do my dirty work. I imagine they would be armed with wolverines and we’d all have cool powers.

3.  Other than writing, what is your favorite thing to do?
Ride my horses. I have a seven year old American Paint Horse named Ally that I’ve been having fun training.

4.  Top 5 favorite bands/songs?
They are constantly changing. Right now I’ve been listening to a lot of Marylin Manson, Disturbed, Three Days Grace, Linkin Park and Nine Inch Nails. But I also love Shakira and Taylor Swift.

5.  Top 5 favorite TV shows?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, Supernatural, Game of Thrones and True Blood. (If you can’t tell, I like fantasy…lol)

6.  If you could make one statement the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?
I would quote Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

7.  Social issue nearest and dearest to your heart?

Depression and suicide in teens. I’ve worked with troubled teens before, and have a lot of personal experience with individuals affected by it. The suicide rates in young adults are rising at a scary rate. I think people, especially the media, need to seriously reevaluate the messages being sent to teens, particularly young girls. The girls have this idea that they need to be look a certain way to fit in and be accepted. And if they don’t (and how many of us really look like that? The pictures are grossly retouched) it can be extremely damaging to their self esteem.

8.  In your opinion, what characteristics do the best bad guys have in common?

Self absorbed, sadistic, out for themselves, good lovers, and lacking empathy. I like my bad guys evil (and hot…who doesn’t love a bad boy?)

9.  What is most likely to put you in a creative mood?

Listening to music. I have playlists for each book that I listen to while I write.

10.  Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your books?

Oh, gosh, yes! I’ll try to keep it short. A few interesting things about the Guardian Legacies books: Anora’s pets are based off of my real life animals. Mystery, Anora’s horse, is based after my Arabian, whose real name is Mystery. I rescued Mystery the day before he was going to be sent to the slaughter auction. Romeo, her ferret, is also a real pet I have. Hunter is based off of my German Shepherd, Vader. Anora’s birthday is August 26th, which is the anniversary of when my husband and I first started dating.

Laney (Anora’s best friend) is named after a childhood friend and personality-wise is based off of my best friend, Ashley. Raeya and Dr. Cara in The Contagium Trilogy are based off of my friends Sarah and Kara. Raeya and Sarah are very much alike and Sarah actually came up with a few of Raeya’s lines of dialogue. Kara is very smart like Dr. Cara but isn’t socially awkward like Dr. Cara is in the books! Both Contagious and Beyond the Sea (a YA paranormal romance about mermaids, which isn’t published yet) were born from crazy dreams I had, though they have been changed just a bit. In my Contagious dream, I had to get my appendix removed. But instead of just removing it, the surgeon replaced it with pot roast! It still makes me laugh how I got the idea for three books from that majorly weird dream!

Author Interview Fiasco #15

Today's special guest is Kristi Worrell!!!!

Welcome Kristi!!!!  Awesome to have you here!!!  Inquiring minds want to know, so I’m here to ask the questions. LOL

1.  As a child, who was your favorite superhero and why?
Rogue from X-men, she was a lot like me and her power was limitless when she touched other mutants.

2.  If you were going to take over the world, how would you do it?
I’d control a major resource, the good way, by earning it.

3.  Other than writing, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love to read, listen to music, and do arts and crafts from making jewelry to crocheting blankets.

4.  Top 5 favorite bands/songs?
Nickelback, Three Doors Down, Crossfade, Marilyn Manson, Framing Hanley

5.  Top 5 favorite TV shows?
Buffy, Angel, Being Human (European/England Version), Vampire Diaries, True Blood

6.  If you could make one statement the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?
Every action has a reaction, a ripple effect. Somethings are unchangeable once done so we must always remember to do things right and not in a hurry or based on temporary emotions. Our world us fading fast and there is not a lot we can do it about it now, except try and slow down the damage we have done. Stop judging others and work together to save what is left of what we have.

7.  Social issue nearest and dearest to your heart?
I cannot fathom why people hurt or take advantage of others. Every day I see self-serving people in a hurry to get things done and they do not care who they hurt in the process. Our world is suffering and dying around us because we were in a hurry to do what we want to and took shortcuts. We put ourselves first and figured we would deal with it later. Ignore what is in front of our faces because something is more important to them now. There may not be tomorrow for some.

8.  In your opinion, what characteristics do the best bad guys have in common?
They are blinded by getting what they want any way they can get it.

9.  What is most likely to put you in a creative mood?
If I want to get a lot of chapters done in my book I turn on music and block out the world. I cannot write when there is chaos all around me or I am distracted by something.

10.  Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your books?
I am addicted to the paranormal world, especially vampires. The paranormal has no set rules and everything is full of magic. My books are two fold, they touch on issues important to me and entertain with romance. My characters are real to me and there problems as well. I am one of those who feel the good guys should always win in the end. My books take reality and make believe and twist them together to create a whole new world. Faellin Angels Realm is a completely unique idea where several paranormal entities come together to save what is left of earth. Nothing can stop a pissed off goddess of nature from taking back what is hers. In this series the mixed group of gods, goddesses, vampires, werewolves, wiccans, and humans find themselves torn from their world and placed into another where they must work together and be open-minded if they are to survive. Here are some links to my website and Facebook page for more information on the book.

Author Interview Fiasco #14

Today's awesome author is JT Lewis!!!!

Welcome JT!!!!  Awesome to have you here!!!  Inquiring minds want to know, so I’m here to ask the questions. LOL

1.  As a child, who was your favorite superhero and why?
Batman! All the cool gadgets!

2.  If you were going to take over the world, how would you do it?
This is a toughie, for I’ve never given any thought to taking over the world. But if I were to make the world a better place, I would pass laws saying that it is illegal to be an asshole, with relevant jail time for various degrees of assholedeness.

3.  Other than writing, what is your favorite thing to do?
Ummm…I’m open to suggestions! :P

4.  Top 5 favorite bands/songs?
I like many kinds of music, but I tend to gravitate toward oldies (60’s, 70’s, and 80’s). I’ve never been one to pay much attention to bands and song titles, I just enjoy the music.

5.  Top 5 favorite TV shows?
NCIS
Ghost Hunters
Dr Who
Castle
Bones

6.  If could make one statement the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?
“Are you going to do something with the time you have left, or in the end are you just going to fill a hole in the ground?”

7. Social issue nearest and dearest to your heart?
There are so many, and with the current economic climate there are more in need than ever. I can’t isolate one single cause to support at the moment, but I try to do everything I can for as many as I can.

8.  In your opinion, what characteristics do the best bad guys have in common?
Disregard for others, and single-mindedness of purpose….their own purpose.

9. What is most likely to put you in a creative mood?
Coffee…lots and lots of coffee

10. Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your books?

I am actually working on three series. The Adventures of Gabriel Celtic, an action/adventure/mystery series featuring (of course) Gabriel Celtic. The first book in the series, ‘Murder! Too Close To Home’, (originally The Ghost Murders) is out as an e-book through Trestle Press, and will be in paperback soon. The second of the series, Gabriel’s Revenge, is written and going through revision. I hope to have it out in a month or two.

Pepper and Longstreet is a new YA mystery series that reminds me of the old Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries…with a paranormal twist! The first volume, ‘The Beginning’, just came out last week, and I’m very excited about this new series. It actually started out as a blog serial, and new chapters are still premiered on my blog as they appear (http://jt-lewis.blogspot.com/ ).

Finding myself with an extra a minute one day, I started writing a Sci-Fi serial based on something that kept bouncing around in my head, called ‘Circles’. There are two chapters of this serial on my blog now, and for now it will remain a blog serial.

Author Interview Fiasco #13

Today's guest author is MJ Schutte!!!!

Hey MJ!!!!  Seriously cool to have you here!!!  Inquiring minds want to know, so I’m here to ask the questions. LOL

1.  As a child, who was your favorite superhero and why?
I’ve always had a rather active imagination so I ended up being my own favorite superhero! Off course my powers and abilities changed daily based on my needs for the day, but the one power I had that always stayed with me was the ability to turn vegetables into ice cream.
It’s a shame I lost that ability with age.

2.  If you were going to take over the world, how would you do it?
Many years ago I planned on taking over the school I attended, but then went out for ice cream instead. Taking over the world just sounds way to stressful!

3.  Other than writing, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love playing tennis and golf, fishing with my son, listening to music (and talk about boys) with my daughters and just being with my wife.

4.  Top 5 favorite bands/songs?
Nickleback, Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand, Cher and Roger Whittaker.
Favorite song will always be “A day in the life of a lucky man” by Roger Whittaker.

5.  Top 5 favorite TV shows?
NCIS, Top Gear, …….uhhhh, I don’t really watch a lot of TV.

6.  If you could make one statement the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?
Oh, the pressure of a single statement!!
Let me think…..
I would only say 2 words: “Love unconditionally”

7.  Social issue nearest and dearest to your heart?
The senseless poaching of rhinos. I’m involved in a project called Save Rhinos today in partnership with my sister to raise money for the use against poaching.
You can find our facebook page on www.facebook.com/saverhinostoday

8.  In your opinion, what characteristics do the best bad guys have in common?
The fact that they simply do as they want. Good guys are always bound by an honor code and moral issues whereas bad guys don’t really have all that stuff to worry about.

9.  What is most likely to put you in a creative mood?
Music. I find that listening to music calms my mind and gets the creative side of my brain working.

10.  Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your books?
I’m currently writing a trilogy called “The Energy Chronicles”. Energy, book 1, was released in 2011 and Birth of a Wizard will be released in March 2012. As soon as I’m done with the publishing of Birth of a Wizard, I will pick up my pen again and start on the final book in the trilogy.

DEVYN! DEVYN!  All new babies will be named Devyn and will have encrypted numbers placed in their chip.  All computers/phones/monitors/laptops/tvs will flash pictures of books to read and book reports will be due once a week.  If reports aren’t turned in on schedule - I will put them on a show like Survivor and compete to keep their life.  Other than that….well, I haven’t thought much about it. 7.  Social issue nearest and dearest to your heart?  Confession one.  I love hamburgers.  I am from Oklahoma and there is a law against taking a bite of someone else’s hamburger.  Haven’t you ever been out and someone was eating a delicious burger and just one little bite is all it would take?  Confession two.  I’m a criminal of the worst kind.  I do bite other people’s burger in Oklahoma.  I’m sorry - please write your legislature and beg them to change this law.  I implore you as an American that it is your civic duty to protect burger biters everywhere.

Author Interview Fiasco #10

Today's awesome author is Lindsay Weigel!!!!

Hello Lindsay!!!!  Awesome to have you here!!!  Inquiring minds want to know, so I’m here to ask the questions. LOL

1.  As a child, who was your favorite superhero and why?
That’s easy! For a little girl in the 80’s there was only Shera.

2.  If you were going to take over the world, how would you do it?
If I told you, then when it happens you will not be surprised, nor will you think of me as an evil mastermind. Or worse, the amazing, Willow Cross could thwart my plan of world domination. Seriously, I have no idea. I think it would include coffee and cake. Who doesn’t like cake?

3.  Other than writing, what is your favorite thing to do?
I like to dance. I don’t do much of it anymore (unless you consider boogying while cleaning).

4.  Top 5 favorite bands/songs?
I’ll do both. Bands: Heart, Metallica, Three Days Grace, Pink, and Journey. Songs: Take My Breath Away by Berlin, Alone by Heart, Freshman by The Vervepipe, One by Metallica, and Again by Janet Jackson. How’s that for eclectic?

5.  Top 5 favorite TV shows?
Sex in the City, Weeds, Californication, Dexter, and True Blood.

6.  If you could make one statement the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?
That could be a loaded question. I guess it would be, “Stop being so self-important. Think of how you would feel if that were you, and let that guide you.”

7.  Social issue nearest and dearest to your heart?
To prevent self-incrimination I will say this; As long as you are not hurting anyone do what makes you happy, and let others do the same.

8.  In your opinion, what characteristics do the best bad guys have in common?
I hate to sound like a teenager, but in this scenario I have no other choice: They’re hot! Every girl secretly desires bad boys, that is, until they know better.

9.  What is most likely to put you in a creative mood?
This may sound odd, but it’s doing mundane things that require no brain activity; i.e., painting walls, dishes, laundry, etc. If I have no one to talk to at that point, I will need to occupy my mind from the task at hand. That leads to daydreaming, then Poof! Creativity.

10.  Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your books?

Yes, Reacquainted is now permanently 99 cents on Kindle and Nook. You can also buy a soft or hardcover from those same places. You can find me on Goodreads http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4992477.Lindsay_Weigel

My debut series starts with Ever Shade (A Dark Faerie Tale) and has Shade, who thinks she’s human, discovering a whole other parallel world of Faerie.  She finds out she’s part faery, has extraordinary magic and is enemy number one for some treacherous faeries.  It’s releasing on March 16th with Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing. I also have two contributions to the Dark Light anthology with my publisher.  My new series out March 31st  starts with Reign of Blood- a post-apocalyptic vampire hunter novel  that follows seventeen year old April, a now viscous vampire killer in the desolate abandoned desert of Las Vegas.  Her search for her mother and brother bring her into contact with all the results of the viral epidemic that wiped the human race out.  Does she have what it takes to adapt to this not so shiny-new world?  It is due out March 31st on Amazon.com.  My poetry collection will be available in mid-February titled: Whispers of Dreams.  As You see, I’ve been super busy but March is going to be my month, watch out world!!!

Author Interview Fiasco #8

Today's amazing guest is author Amanda Browning!!!!

Welcome Amanda!!!!  Awesome to have you here!!!  Inquiring minds want to know, so I’m here to ask the questions. LOL

1.  As a child, who was your favorite superhero and why?
I’m going to have to say Howard the Duck.  My uncle lived with us when I was a kid and he introduced me to the comics and the movie.  I loved that movie as a kid, and as an adult, it is SO much funnier.

2.  If you were going to take over the world, how would you do it?
I would taint the world’s bacon supply with mind control chemicals and build my horde of followers.  I’d then separate the really awesome people.  They would get normal bacon and their own legion of mind controlled followers to spread my message of world domination to every corner of the Earth.  Vegetarians would be confined to an island (kind of like Alcatraz) and forced to labor there until they admit the error of their ways and embrace the pork.

3.  Other than writing, what is your favorite thing to do?
Setting aside all the normal responses about spending time with husband, kids, and friends, I am going to say reading.  I am on a constant search for the next great book.  I look for books that can pull me into the story and make me feel what the characters feel.  I love when a book gets my heart racing, emotions churning, and gives me the tingles.  I am a literary traveler and I’ve seen some pretty amazing places on my journeys.

4.  Top 5 favorite bands/songs?
Oh this question is not fair!  My top five changes depending on my mood.  But I will happily provide my favorites at the moment.
1.      Three Days Grace
2.      Adele
3.      Flyleaf
4.      Disturbed
5.      The Civil Wars

5.  Top 5 favorite TV shows?
Before I answer this one, I have to say that I haven’t had cable/satellite for over a year, so I don’t watch much TV anymore, but I loved these shows when I got to watch them.
1.      True Blood
2.      The Walking Dead
3.      Breaking Bad
4.      The Vampire Diaries
5.      Criminal Minds

6.  If you could make one statement the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?
            Thou shalt not commit douchebaggery!

7.  Social issue nearest and dearest to your heart?
Bullying.  It is a horrible thing to go through.  I wish I could be there with every teenager who is having a hard time in school to tell them how awesome they are and that it will be better one day.  I am trying to raise my kids to be open-minded and accepting. Different isn’t bad, and people should be praised for their differences.  If we all teach our children to accept those who are different, think of how the next generation will be. <3

8.  In your opinion, what characteristics do the best bad guys have in common?
There are two kinds of bad guys: the bad guy who has the potential to do good, and the unrepentant evil guy.  For both, confidence, a deliciously twisted mind, and good looks are usually involved.  The best bad guys make evil look so good that they tempt others to stray from their path.

9.  What is most likely to put you in a creative mood?
I’m extremely lucky to have been blessed with a very imaginative mind.  I get inspiration from everything.  Movies are wonderful for setting, especially period movies.  Music always gets my mind working.  I also love cruising the fantasy art pages on facebook.  Some of the pictures there have inspired whole stories for me with one picture.

10.  Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your books?
I throw a little bit of real history with my own twist on it into my books.  It may be setting, or a character, but I love to be able to research and have real facts to make my work more realistic.  With immortal creatures, it seems illogical to me to ignore all that they have seen.  My first novel, The Immortal Choice, will be published this spring.
